Launch of Asiasat-6 on SpaceX Falcon 9 v1.1 Rocket on 12th Flight

SpaceX successfully launched their 12th Falcon 9 rocket into orbit early this morning, September 7th 2014 at 05:00 UTC. The rocket was in the v1.1 configuration however with no legs due to the need for payload capability for the satellite – Asiasat 6. Asiasat 6 is the second Asia Satellite Telecommunications Company’s satellite SpaceX has launched after Asiasat 8 in August. Asiasat 6 will operate at 120 degrees East and has 24 C-band transponders for television broadcasting, 14 transponders will be leased to Thaicom and the craft will be renamed Asiasat 6/Thaicom 7.
