Launch of Hot Bird 7 & Stentor on V-157

The 14th Ariane 5 rocket launched from French Guiana on 11th December 2002 at 22:22 UTC. 3 minute into flight a leak in coolant pipes in the first stage caused the nozzle to overheat and the vehicle to veer off-course forcing the automatic self-destruction system to engage. The onboard satellites Hot Bird 7 and Stentor were lost in the ocean.
