Launch of Mighty Ariane 5 Rocket with Alphasat and Insat-3D


A European Ariane 5 rocket successfully lifted off her launch pad in Kourou, French Guiana today – 25th July 2013 at 19:54 UTC. The 17 story rocket successfully placed two payloads into orbit weighing a total of 9,760kg.

Alphasat for Inmarsat is Europe’s largest ever communications satellite and will provide L-Band capability for mobile users all over Europe. Insat-3D for the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) will provide satellite search and rescue capabilities through imaging sensors.

This was the 3rd Ariane 5 launch of this year and the 70th overall in the Ariane 5 program.
