Shuttle Atlantis Leaves Processing Hangar for Final Time


Space shuttle Atlantis rolled out of the Orbiter Processing Facility 2 to the Vehicle Assembly Building for the final time on Oct. 17 at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Atlantis has been undergoing preparations for public display as part of NASA’s Transition and Retirement processing of the shuttle fleet. The orbiter is scheduled to move to its new home at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on Nov. 2. There, a grand opening is planned for Atlantis in July 2013.
