Shuttle Atlantis Unwrapped & Revealed at Kennedy Visitor Center

Protective shrink-wrap encasing space shuttle Atlantis was removed today revealing the iconic orbiter in its new home at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex in Florida. Shortly after Atlantis moved to the Visitor Complex from Kennedy in November 2012, the covering was installed to protect the vehicle during construction of the “Space Shuttle Atlantis” exhibit. Within the next few weeks, the payload bay doors are set to be opened and the robotic arm installed to showcase Atlantis as if it were flying in space. The grand opening of “Space Shuttle Atlantis” is set for June 29.
